Les animaux du Bois de Quat’Sous menaient jadis une vie paisible dans leur petite forêt, mais au cours d’un été caniculaire leur logis fut attaqué par les bulldozers et les bétonneuses. Menacés à la fois par l’homme et la sécheresse, contraints de fuir pour sauver leurs vies, les animaux n’eurent plus qu’un seul espoir : parvenir à rallier le Parc du Daim Blanc, une réserve naturelle où tous pourront vivre en paix. Devant l’importance de la crise, ils décidèrent d’établir un pacte, et s’engagèrent à s’unir et à s’entraider pour atteindre ensemble leur destination. Reniant leurs instincts de prédateurs, les plus grands animaux promirent d’aider les plus petits et de les protéger pour la durée du voyage.
